The Holy Spirit demonstrated his remarkable power in the lives of early Christians. It is reported,
“Now when they (Paul, Silas, and Timothy) had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them” (Acts 16:6-10).
Lesson:
The Holy Spirit is the active presence of God in the lives of believers. He is the Global Positioning System (GPS) that leads God’s children to act rightly. The presence of the Holy Spirit is needed by all people to have effective evangelism that is fruitful for God’s kingdom. Also, no one can faithfully serve God without the Holy Spirit. Therefore, every Christian should seriously pray that God fills him/ her with his Holy Spirit so that he/she can be fruitful for God’s kingdom.
Prayer:
Dear God, Please fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can live holy and acceptable life before you. Let your Holy Spirit empower me to engage in effective evangelism that is profitable for your kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
