Abstain From Immoral Conduct For Church Health (Passage: James 4) Immoral conduct affected the early church and God’s miracle stopped happening. The people deviated from the worship of the living God, and substituted it for conducts that God disapproved. Bible detests immoral conducts: Apostle James reproved the early church as stated, “Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures” (James 4:1-3). Lesson Against Immoral Conduct A Christian must live a principled lifestyle to enjoy God’s benefits. Christians must prioritize holiness and yield to the leadership of the Holy Spirit so that we can...

King Rehoboam succeeded his father Solomon as a king of Israel, but he quickly followed wrong counsels and lost credibility with his citizens. Therefore, he lost more than 70% of his kingdom to someone who had no royal blood. The scripture reported, “…And Jeroboam and all Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy; now therefore, lighten the burdensome service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you.’” (2 Chronicles 10:3-4). “So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king had directed, saying, ‘Come back to me the third day.’ Then the king answered them roughly. King Rehoboam rejected the advice of the elders, and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, ‘My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but I will...

A psalmist lamented and voiced his concerns as he witnessed how wicked people prospered on earth. The man thought God was partial to have allowed the prosperity of such evil people. However, God opened his eyes to reality as he confessed, “When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny. Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin. How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors! They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies” (Psalm 73:16-20 NIV). Become Rich In God’s Way: Pursue Honest Riches Children of God are to focus on receiving their riches from God, and not to envy the wicked people. Wicked people may prosper today but their prosperity would remain temporal – They will not last, but soon...

We human beings must always reference God for his supremacy. We must understand that he is different from us, and his ways are not always the same as ours. A good lesson about this subject can be learned from the Bible when one of King David’s servants passionately served God to a dissatisfaction. A man called Uzza attempted to help out when some priests made a mistake and could have dropped God’s Ark of Covenant. (1 Chronicles 13). Uzza ran to help safeguard the Ark of God’s Covenant from falling. To everyone’s surprise, Uzza’s action irritated God because he touched his Ark, and he struck him to death immediately. The bible reported, “Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzza, and He struck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God” (1 Chronicles 13:10).   More Bible Example Besides Uzza providing unacceptable service to God during...

King Hezekiah upheld the scepter of righteousness in the land of Judah, and God prospered him. The scripture reported Hezekiah's courageous decisions that turned out to become his achievements. It is reported,   “Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah and broke the sacred pillars in pieces, cut down the wooden images, and threw down the high places and the altars—from all Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh—until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned to their own cities, every man to his possession” (2 Chronicles 31:1).   King Hezekiah lived a victorious life and he was honored till the sunset of his life. His end was reported, “... So Hezekiah rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the upper tombs of the sons of David; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem...

Paul used his personal experience to analyze how Satan can manipulate anyone into pride through personal achievement. The enemy can trick someone to mistake God's grace and blessing as mere fruits of human labor (which is a practice detested by God). Paul used his life as an example and said,   “...And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:7-9).   Lesson on Pride of achievement   God created humanity to depend on him. He...

God requires Christians to preach gospel of Jesus Christ without hesitation. We must inform people about Jesus' gift of salvation, and punishment that will come on people who refuse to believe Him.    The scripture stated, “Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand"— (Joel 2:1 NIV)   Lesson for Christians to Preach Gospel   This present world will remain a temporal home for all people. Everyone will migrate from here to a permanent destination.  However, not all people will end at the same place. Some people will end up in heaven while others will end up in hell. People who would be qualified for heaven are those who have believed in Jesus Christ and accepted Him as their Lord and Savior.   Unbelievers will end up in hell fire where there shall be...

Christianity is a religion that gives hope and salvation, but also attracts some tough circumstances and temptations - which will eventually result to positive benefits.   Paul shared his personal experience of Christianity and said, “... Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I. Are they ministers of Christ?—I speak as a fool—I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among...

The term "Daughters of Zion" was used on many occasions to refer to the beauty and pride of Israel; however, in some instances, God down tune importance of "Daughters of Zion" into a piece of entity worthy of severe punishment due to Israelites' sins.   One of the instances is highlighted, “Moreover the Lord says: “Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, And walk with outstretched necks And wanton eyes, Walking and mincing as they go, Making a jingling with their feet, Therefore the Lord will strike with a scab The crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, And the Lord will uncover their secret parts” (Isaiah 3:16-17).   Lesson on God frowns at Sin and embraces Holiness God will not turn a blind eye on any Christian who goes against His will. He can not bless anyone who persists in sin! Since he is just and faithful, the Creator cannot exonerate any of his children from...

God asked his people - Israelites - to repent from their sin so that they can qualify for his blessings. God said, “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil, Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow. “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword”; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken” (Isaiah 1:16-20). Lesson on Repentance to Enjoy God's Blessing   God is more interested in seeing his children repent from their sins than to make them suffer terrible punishment of hell...
