We Christians are not serving an unknown god, but we are serving a known God who dwells in heaven and reigns on earth. The scripture explained,
“Why should the gentiles say, “So where is their God?” But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes they have, but they do not see; they have ears, but they do not hear; Noses they have, but they do not smell; they have hands, but they do not handle; feet they have, but they do not walk; nor do they mutter through their throat. Those who make them are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them” (Psalm 115:2-8).
Lesson:
God rejects idol worship, and It is pure foolishness for anyone to serve an idol. However, what benefit can anyone derive from idolatry? Absolutely nothing! It is appropriate that people serve the living God, rather than serving dummy gods. The living God is the only one that created the entire universe and reigns in the affairs of mankind; therefore, trusting him will bring many gains. The Creator will bless people that put their absolute trust in him, but he will reject and punish idol worshippers – unless they repent.
Prayer:
Dear God, please help me to serve you at all times with undivided attention, and
let me faithfully direct my praises and prayers towards you always. Help me to remain consistent with you throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
