Apostle Paul exhorted the Thessalonians and said
“For our exhortation did not come from error or uncleanness, nor was it in deceit. But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts. For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness— God is witness. Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of Christ” (1 Thess. 2:3-6).
Lesson:
Ministers of the gospel are not to be people’s pleasers. They are to deliver the gospel as inspired by the Holy Spirit, and they must reference scripture with their sermons. God will be displeased if any servant fails. Moreover, God’s servants must not pursue earthly success at the expense of true gospel; they must not be selfish, and they must keep their faith during persecution and oppression. Jehovah has reserved full benefits for his servants that remain faithful unto the end. He will bless his servants and decorate them with honor in heaven.
Prayer:
Dear God, please let me be a faithful servant before you. Help me to remain
steadfast before you always. Empower me to preach the unbiased gospel; keep me honest, and let me remain fruitful for your kingdom. Help me to remain strong during persecution, and let me keep my faith unto the end. Please anoint me with oil of gladness to continue sharing your gospel throughout the world. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
