Anti-gospel people killed Stephen because of his faith in Jesus Christ. They hauled stones at the preacher until he died. However, prior to his death, Stephen received a trance and he saw Jesus Christ applauding his undefeatable faith. The man shared his experience with his persecutors and said,
“Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” (Acts 7:56).
Lesson:
Anyone who suffers for the sake of the gospel will reap huge rewards from God. God’s servants may taste some rewards on earth, but no earthly reward is comparable to heavenly rewards. Anyone who suffers for the sake of Christ and his gospel will be recognized as a king in heaven. The chosen servants of God will be specially decorated in heaven, and the glory of their honor will glitter throughout the provinces of heaven.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus Christ, please anoint me with the grace to preach an indispensable gospel. Increase my faith to stand firm with the task of evangelism. Enable me to preach your gospel fearlessly and ceaselessly. Please enable me to be your true ambassador, and let me bring huge rewards to your kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
