October 11 – God Rewards Obedience
Christians harbor God in their body system, and they cannot afford to grieve him. The scripture stated,
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).
Lesson:
We humans do not have final authority over our bodies, but God has the authority! Hence, every Christian must understand that his/her body is the temple of the Holy Spirit of God, and must fearfully nurture it. We must be watchful of what we do to our bodies! We must carefully manage it to maintain the sanctity of life. However, it is important to mention that sexual impurities corrupt the human body and soul; they force us to be in enmity with God. We must desist sexual sins, body mutilation, and other forbidden activities so that God can be glorified in our lives.
Prayer:
Dear God, I am sorry for how I have mishandled my body. I now realize that my body is your temple, and I must not corrupt it. Therefore I will preserve my body for your glory. Please help me to remain conscious that you will judge everybody’s indecent activity. Assist me to maintain my body sanctity so that I will not be condemned in your presence on Judgment day. Empower me to maintain a faithful and consistent relationship with you throughout the days of my life, so that I can enter your kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
