Sermon by Rev. James Taiwo If the Lord be for you, who can be against you? No matter how big or small a problem may appear before you, it shall be leveled by the power of God. Why? Because you serve the Lord God who made the entire universe; all…

Christians Should Inculcate The Habit Of Preaching The Gospel
The scripture requires Christians to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ always. God’s plan is for everyone to have a chance at salvation. It is written;
“I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word [as an official messenger]; be ready when the time is right and even when it is not [keep your sense of urgency, whether the opportunity seems favorable or unfavorable, whether convenient or inconvenient, whether welcome or unwelcome]; correct [those who err in doctrine or behavior], warn [those who sin], exhort and encourage [those who are growing toward spiritual maturity], with inexhaustible patience and [faithful] teaching. 3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine and accurate instruction [that challenges them with God’s truth]; but wanting to have their ears tickled [with something pleasing], they will accumulate for themselves [many] teachers [one after another, chosen] to satisfy their own desires and to support the errors they hold, 4 and will turn their ears away from the truth and will wander off into myths and man-made fictions [and will accept the unacceptable].” (2 Timothy 4:1-4 AMP).
Evangelism is a Spiritual Mandate for All Christians Worldwide
Gospel evangelization is not a choice but a must for all Christians! We are commanded to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to people of every tongue, nation, and tribe. We must preach the gospel of Jesus without reservations! As a Christian, you are required to spread God’s word no matter the situation. We must evangelize the gospel regardless of the religion, tradition, or other. No affiliation or title is required to preach the gospel.
Christianity is all about love. While selflessness and charity are a great way to show love, an incomparable way would be introducing the gospel to an individual. Reminding them that they are one prayer away from eternal life is all the love they need.
God and sin are not friends. A person who stays away from sin has automatically positioned himself in the right spot to receive the blessings of God. A person who lives in sin will bear the consequence of his (or her) actions. A sinful activity brings some sort of enjoyment; however, once the excitement is over, the same sin leaves the person to face a bitter consequence that will follow suit.
Sin can come from any source to affect a person or a group of people. In fact, God has labeled nations as sinners in the past, and he punished them for their sins. The nation of Israel is an example. The people who should be God’s “apple eyes” turned their back against the Creator; they suffered a bitter consequence for their action.
Jeremiah, in the Bible, explained the horror that his country (Israel) faced as a result of their sins. The land of Israel that was once considered a center of attraction for their neighbors lost its value when the people sinned against God.
Israelites dropped their love for God and pursued Idolatry; therefore, God forsook them. God suspended his love for the Israelites and make them became subservient to their enemies.
The opposing nations discovered that God’s protection was missing on the Israelites and took advantage of the situation.
Realizing that God was no more in friendship with the Israelites, the enemies attacked them from every side and overpowered them. They destroyed their land and took them captive. Israelites lost their freedom and become the slaves of others.
Jeremiah who witnessed the downfall of his nation lamented,
“How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave. Bitterly she weeps at night, tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no one to comfort her. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies. After affliction and harsh labor, Judah has gone into exile. She dwells among the nations; she finds no resting place. All who pursue her have overtaken her in the midst of her distress” (Lamentations 1:1-3 NIV).
God Loves The Sinners, But He Hates Their Sins
Does God love the sinners? Yes, he does. God loves everyone – He loves both the saints and the sinners; however, God does not love sin. The Creator can simply not cope with sin.
Jehovah hates sin. He can’t operate under a sinful atmosphere. That is, God will not be able to relate with us if we entertain sin in our lives.
Anyone who is willing to receive the prime benefit of God must steer clear of sin. Stay away!
How Serious Is The Consequence of Sin?
Sin destroys any good relationship that exists between God and a person.
God’s limit of interaction with a sinner also leads to the withdrawal of his benefits. (A sinner loses both ways).
A sinner will be vulnerable to the enemy’s attack since God’s protection will be unavailable for him.
God has an established judgment for an unrepentant sinner. (God will cast an unrepentant sinner to hellfire on the last day).
God is not partial, he will not punish a sinner and spare the other, Any Christian who lives in sin will not be exempted from God’s punishment.
Every sinner must repent – Without an exception! Everyone must understand that God is not partial; he won’t punish one sinner and leave the other; therefore, both the nominal Christian (A Christian without Christ’s attributes) and the unbeliever should await God’s imminent punishments unless due repentance is exercised.
Any Christian who lives in sin will be punished since God is not partial; he won’t punish one sinner and spare the other. Every sinner must repent from his or her sin to receive God’s forgiveness and escape his punishment.
A soul that sins shall die” says the Bible; however, some consequences are bound to follow a sinner before he dies.
The consequences of a sin on earth is not predictable since no one can second-guess God. The Creator mostly take an action that beats human’s imagination. Meanwhile, instead of wasting time on making unnecessary assumptions about God’s variety of punishment in any given situation, everyone should aspire to measure up to the standard of God and serve him in holiness.
A person who claims to love God must express it by loving his Son Jesus Christ. The person must also love his or her neighbors. Here are God’s words,
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’”(Luke 10:27 NIV).
“Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments” (1 John 5:1-2 NKJV).
The task to love God and our fellow human beings may sound easy but it can be sometimes intensive. It can be tough to truly love the hostile people. Also, it can be challenging to love God wholeheartedly during a difficult situation. However, despite the challenges, believers still have the privilege of depending on empowerment of the Holy Spirit to fully meet the standard of God – “Love God and love your neighbors.”
To overcome the challenge of struggling to fully love God and truly love our neighbors, we must rely on the power of the Holy Spirit.
Christian: Have Confidence In Holy Spirit!
Holy Spirit can help us overcome our limitations and adequately meet the standard of God. To achieve this, we must express our dependence on God. That is, we must pray and express our frustrations and fears to God. We must tell him how we feel, and how powerless we are in a situation. More importantly, we must ask God to send his Holy Spirit to possess us, empower us, and guide us to behave appropriately according to his commandments.
A believer who operates in the realm of the Holy Spirit through prayers and Bible study will receive God’s empowerment to prosper. The person will regain the strength to behave in a manner that glorifies God.
No doubt that Satan will tempt a Christian to act in the flesh and be less loving in a hostile environment, but the fellow can depend on the power of the Holy Spirit to adequately meet the standard of God.
Holy Spirit gives us the power to fully love God and our neighbors. The Bible states, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
Every Christian needs the supernatural power of God (Holy Spirit) to overcome his or her limitations. The divine Spirit of God will energize us to live above sin if we can allow him to lead us! He (Holy Spirit) will empower us to love God as well as loving our fellow human beings – Even under a poisoned atmosphere! The more we rely on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the more our strength will increase to fully conform to the standard of God.
Submit yourself to God. Read his word (The Bible); pray, and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to fully conform to his standard.
Christians must rely on Holy Spirit in all situations. The more we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, the more our strength will increase to fully conform to the standard of God.
Please Pray for Strength to Love God and Faithfully Serve Him!
Dear God, please baptize me with the Holy Spirit to exercise genuine love for you and other people. Empower me to live an acceptable life before you so that I can qualify for your benefits on earth and in heaven. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen! Children of God must have confidence in God and know that he is with them at all times. Apostle Paul declared, “If God be for us who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 History has repeatedly made it clear that God is ever faithful to deliver those who trust in him. He defended his children during bible time, and he is still doing the same today! God of the universe that Christians serve is faithful to help us triumph during challenges. Christians are God’s children; we occupy a special place in his heart, and he will benefit us with his limitless provision and protection.
It is important that we (believers) trust God when we are at the point of needs. Why? God is an Omnipotent one – His strength has no limit!
During bible time, Jehovah performed all kinds of miracle to protect and provide for his children. God’s supernatural power raised the death; parted the sea, and rained manner from heaven. God also rained stones to defend his children in the past!
A special example of how God delivered his children from trouble can be found in 2 Chronicle 20. God’s children were oppressed and surrounded by enemies that outnumbered them.
The enemies intended to loath the land of Judah and kill God’s people. However, Jehovah turned table against the enemies.
King Jehoshaphat of Judah called on God for his defense. He cried out to God in prayer and trusted him for help.
The king prayed,
“O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20:12).
God responded to Jehoshaphat’s prayer with a promise to deliver his land from the oppressors. Jehoshaphat trusted God and made a decision to start praising God immediately.
King Jehoshaphat demonstrated his confidence in God!
As King Jehoshaphat trusted God for his promise, he organized people to praise God. His action impressed God who immediately insinuated confusion in the camp of his enemies. The enemies began to kill each other until no one remain standing. Bible reported,
“Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another” (2 Chronicles 20:22-23).
God’s Strength Is Ever Active Till Date
The living God that Christians serve has undiminished strength. God can go to any extent to care for his people. Jehovah who is an Omniscient one will help whoever reserves his complete trust in him!
A person’s attitude towards God will dictate the amount of breakthrough he will receive from him. That is, the more a person trust God, the more his blessing would be. Therefore anyone who intend to receive full benefit should question himself (or herself) whether he deeply trust God or not.
Do you genuinely and deeply trust God during your difficult moment?
To enjoy God’s defense and provisions, your heart must fully rest on God! You must have confidence that he won’t disappoint you when you need his assistance.
Dear God, I am grateful that you are alive and ever active to defend your children from their troubles! I know you care and you will solve my problems.
Please increase my faith so that I can have confidence and trust you! As I trust you, let my trial turn to a testimony, and let me celebrate my victory to the glory of your name. For in the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.
Faith-in-action is the best means of obtaining God’s benefits. People who have expressed their faith in God ought not to limit their efforts into serving God only, they ought to also aspire to receive some significant benefits from the Lord as well. Christians ought to make their faith applicable to their personal situations to experience God’s miracles.
Children of God must take practical steps into bringing their expected miracles into reality. To better understand this fact, let’s use the situations of a Greek woman notable as a Syrophoenician woman in the Bible as a case study. The woman took the bull by its horn to achieve her expected victory.
The Syrophoenician woman had a daughter who was tormented by the evil spirits; she brought her situation to Jesus, and the Messiah turned down her request. However, she refused to be discouraged. She was persistent with her request until Jesus healed her daughter.
The result of the Syrophoenician effort paid off, but the process of obtaining her expected help from Jesus was not so easy. Anyone could have easily given up when the Master refused to honor his or her request, but Syrophoenician woman was different.
Jesus said “No” to the Syrophoenician woman, but she insisted that he must say “Yes.” The Syrophoenician pestered Jesus with her persistent request until Jesus reversed his decision and said “Yes” also.
Perhaps I can imagine what someone would be thinking right now. Maybe you are questioning yourself, “how come Jesus- the good Master rejected the poor woman’s request to heal her daughter?” Well, of course, Jesus was indeed a caring Son of God – A great deliverer and a perfect healer for that matter! Jesus turned down the request of the Syrophoenician woman to test her faith. Christ wanted the woman to prove her faith as a true believer. The woman passed the test!
The Syrophoenician woman proved her worth as a true believer in Jesus Christ. Her persistence proved that she knew what she believed. She was confident that Jesus had the capacity to solve her problem, so she refused to turn somewhere else. The behavior of the Syrophoenician woman could be perceived as if she won’t let Jesus proceed on his journey until he had done something concerning the spiritual health of her daughter.
Someone could literarily hear the Syrophoenician woman saying, “Master I won’t let you move an inch until you have delivered my daughter.”
The persistent attitude of the Syrophoenician woman changed the dynamics of her daughter’s situation. Jesus responded with a positive affirmation and delivered the woman’s daughter from the power of darkness.
History credited the Syrophoenician woman for her steadfast faith. Read the brief Bible’s account of the Syrophoenician lady and Jesus Christ:
“From there He arose and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And He entered a house and wanted no one to know it, but He could not be hidden. For a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and she came and fell at His feet. The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth, and she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” And she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs.” Then He said to her, “For this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter.” And when she had come to her house, she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying on the bed. (Mark 7:24-30 NKJV).
Persistent faith will bring you benefits!
Learn some Important Lessons of Faith from the Syrophoenician Woman
Syrophoenician woman heard about Jesus’ unbeatable power to do all things and believed.
She did not keep her faith to herself but she walked up to Jesus to ask for his help.
Syrophoenician woman was a humble person who would not take any offense from Jesus’ rejection of her request. (The woman’s attitude did not change towards Jesus even though he turned down her request).
Syrophoenician woman was persistent with her request that Jesus must heal her daughter even when it appeared that her effort was fruitless.
Syrophoenician lady understood her right as a true believer in Jesus Christ deserving his undeniable miracles.

Clear Facts about Faith, Action, and Benefits
The God of the Bible is still alive to benefit whoever will reserve an absolute trust in him.
Christians ought to maximally explore their opportunities in God. Believers must believe in the power of Jesus Christ as the main solution to their problems. In fact, any devoted Christian ought to understand that nothing goes beyond the reach of the power of Jesus Christ.
Christians must not pocket the faith they have in Jesus Christ. They must act on their faith to turn every necessary table to their advantage. Every Christian ought to be able to make an affirmative statement that he or she has the entitlement to have victory in any situation that confronts him or her.
Bible has stated it clearly that Jesus Christ has the power to control all situations. It is written, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV).
Christians must profess their faith in God’s power to meet their needs. They must demonstrate the courage to profess their expectations over their situations.
If a Christian could not consider himself or herself as the bonafide child of God deserving his miracles who else would do? Every child of God has undeniable right to receiving God’s miracles which are not limited to healing, deliverance, peace, and prosperity. You ask why? Jesus Christ-the Son God has purchased Christians (the believers) with his precious blood. In other words, Christians are the blood-relative of God; they deserve to receive his unfiltered benefits.
Christ adopted Christians to his royal bloodline to automatically qualify for God’s unfiltered benefits.
God is the Giver; you are the receivers, therefore you have to put up some nice attitude in the presence of God to befit his blessings! Remember, God can give anything at will and he can take it away at will. So, stay humble before God as you present your petitions to him.
A delay is not a denial. Christians must consistently pray until their prayers are answered. No believer should mistake his or her persistent prayers as “vain repetitions.”
Persistent Prayers show your dependence on God. It proves that you trust that God has the power to solve your problems – Meaning the more a Christian prays (in the name of Jesus Christ), the more his faith will arouse, and the likelihood of him receiving the expected answer sooner. Christ said, “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24).
How Can A Christian Put His of Her Faith To Action?
Learn from the Syrophoenician woman in the Bible:
She had a need; she walked up to Jesus, and she made a persistent request about her need until Jesus favored her.
Syrophoenician woman refused to be discouraged when Jesus turned down her request.
Syrophoenician woman persisted until Jesus responded with a solution.
Syrophoenician woman walked back home with her problem solved. (Jesus took care of it.)
As a Christian, you must take a pragmatic approach to addressing your problem.
Pray to God and act!
Understand that you are a child of God deserving to receive his benefits.
Walk up to Jesus in prayers.
Do not give up on your efforts even when it appears things are not working.
Prepare your mind as people may turn you down- Don’t let rejection destroy your morale.
Understand that you occupy a special place in God’s mind; he will never ignore you.
God will create a situation that will turn to your benefits; he will send the necessary helper as you make your efforts.
Be confident in God and know:
Your God cannot be restricted and he cannot be defeated.
Your God whom you serve and trust will not leave you comfortless.
Your God will respond to your needs and make your face shine.
In recap to the teachings on faith and action, Christians must venture to take the full benefits of their faith in God. They must venture to complement their faith with the necessary action that will generate the expected result.
A Christian must not only pray for a miracle without taking any proper step that will complement his or her faith.
Dear God I know that you have the power to do all things. You are God that answers prayers, and there is nothing too difficult for you to do. I am asking that you give me the strength to reserve an absolute trust in you.
Please give me the power to be proactive with my faith by taking every necessary step that will propel me to victory. Also, help me to exercise faith as I pray so that my joy can be full. Give me the ability to confess the promises of the scriptures into my situations. Let my faith declaration result to my healing, deliverance, prosperity, and other benefits. Please fill my mouth with the testimony of your goodness. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen. If you like what you’re reading, subscribe here
