Berea Christians accurately proved the true meaning of Christianity, and they set good examples for other people to follow. The scripture reported,
“These (Bereans) were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men. (Acts 17:11-12).”
Lesson:
True Christianity is better expressed in action than in words. Believers must practically demonstrate their understanding of the scripture through their consistent relationship with God, and by showing love to others. Any person to be called a devoted Christian must daily search the scriptures and apply lessons learned to his or her life. It is important that a Christian evaluate whatever teaching that he or she receives and validate it with the bible. Any teaching or knowledge that lacks bases in the scripture must be outrightly rejected; facts that have validation in the scripture must be celebrated! Every child of God has been commissioned to serve God in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
Prayer:
Dear God, I want to be a devout Christian who daily study your word, and apply every necessary lesson to my life. Please help me to understand the principles of the bible; enable me to comply with your laws, and help me to maintain a consistent relationship with you. Help me to be an honest Christian, and bless me for every positive effort that I make to satisfy you. Give me the grace to remain a devout Christian throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
