Persistent prayers helped the early church to be steadfast and successful. Despite persecutions from without and divisions from within, persistent prayers helped the early Christians to continue to prosper and advance to other regions of the world. Holy Spirit instructed the saints and taught them their next line of action. For example, the Holy Spirit guided the saints to send out Saul (Paul) and Barnabas outside their border to preach the gospel. They obeyed; Paul launched a crusade outside the land of Israel, and everyone on earth continues to feel the impact till today. The remarkable testimony could be traced to Acts 13:2-3
(“As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.”)
Lesson:
Any person or a group of people that pray and prioritize obedience to God’s instructions shall prosper – with absolute certainty. God has the secret of success, and he reveals it to his children through their obedience. No one can imagine his greatness; he (or she) would be surprised to realize how much God would bless him through obedience. In addition, a Christian who prays and listens to the instructions of God will triumph on earth. No challenge would be able to thwart God’s original plans for his life.
Prayer:
Dear God, please help me to seek your face in prayers and obey your instructions so that I can prosper. Enable me to trust that you are in charge of my life, and nothing can alter your original plans for me. Let me carefully listen to you, and let me faithfully obey you so that I can succeed and have abiding testimony. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
