Paul called Philemon a brother, and he appreciated him for being a good steward of Jesus Christ. Paul said,
“I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers, hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints, that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother” (Philemon 1:4-7).
Lesson:
Christians are to be good stewards of Jesus Christ. We are to live an exemplary lifestyle that will challenge unbelievers to venture into becoming Christians also. Christians must be full of faith; we must be reflective of Jesus’ characters in all aspects of life. As Christ’s ambassador on earth, selfishness, prideful heart, immorality, and all other ungodly acts must not be found with us. Our lives must be full of grace, and we must ensure that God’s name is praised in every circumstance of our lives.
Prayer:
Dear God, please help me to be a Christian that lives an exemplary lifestyle for other people to emulate. Help me to be your good steward; let me be reflective of you in speech and in deed. Empower me through your Holy Spirit to live an acceptable lifestyle before you always, so that I can be qualified to receive your eternal rewards in heaven. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
