Jesus Christ explained the necessity of his suffering and death. His death was meant to open a pathway for sinners to receive forgiveness of their sins so that they can qualify for heaven. Jesus Christ said,
“Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:46-49).
Lesson:
Jesus Christ died for sinners on the cross, and it was a “mission accomplished!” Christ unveiled the symbolic meaning of his death and resurrection to all people. His rare mission was meant to save lost sinners and reinstate them into a godly relationship with their Maker. (Also, Christ empowered his followers to preach the gospel to the unbelievers – Luke 24:46-49). Hence, believers are heaven-bound, and they also have the power of the Holy Spirit to fearlessly preach the gospel throughout the world! Although Christ suffered to perfect the work of salvation, he has made it freely available for all people. The Holy Spirit is free also. Hence, anyone who confesses Jesus Christ as Lord will enjoy all his benefits.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus Christ, I cannot pretend that I do not understand the amazing work of salvation that you have accomplished for me through your death and resurrection. You have died for my sins and you have given me eternal life. You have also promised to bless me with your Holy Spirit so that I would be able to effectively preach your gospel. Therefore, I release myself for you today, and I accept you, Jesus Christ, as my personal Lord and Savior. I also ask for your Holy Spirit’s empowerment that will enable me to effectively preach your gospel. Please grant me grace and let me remain your true child unto the end. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
