God was furious with his disobedient children and he charged his prophet to announce what calamity would befall them. God said to Prophet Hosea,
“Set the trumpet to your mouth! He shall come like an eagle against the house of the Lord, because they have transgressed my covenant and rebelled against my law. Israel will cry to me, ‘My God, we know you!’ Israel has rejected the good; the enemy will pursue him” (Hosea 8:1-3).
Lesson:
God cannot be bribed. There is no amount of manipulations that can make him lessen his standard of holiness. God has established his position over all matters ones and for all, he asked all people to work uprightly before him so that they can prosper. Anyone who fails to obey God’s instruction would be questioned and be punished on God’s last Day of Judgment. Therefore, it is important that we make God happy in everything we do, so he can prosper us.
Prayer:
Dear God, please help me to fear you and help me to faithfully serve you. Help me to obey all your commandments. Please let me qualify to enjoy your benefits and not experience your punishments. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
