David killed Goliath and received favor from his country fellows, but his success provoked the rage of his boss. King Saul felt threatened and hated David passionately. He set traps for him and sought every opportunity to terminate his life. However, God protected David from Saul, and he foiled the enemy’s assassination attempts. The scripture reported King Saul’s action against David,
“The distressing spirit from the Lord came upon Saul as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand. And David was playing music with his hand. Then Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away from Saul’s presence, and he drove the spear into the wall. So David fled and escaped that night” (1 Samuel 19:9-10).
Lesson:
An enemy of righteousness may pursue a child of God, but he/she will soon experience a failed mission. Enemies will stumble, but God will protect his own people. The protections of God will rest and abide with his children, and he will save them from any adversary! No matter how brutal an enemy of righteousness may appear, he/she is still limited in power! However, God who cares for his children is limitless in power! He will protect his children against any visible or invisible weapon of the enemy. Jehovah will also beat down the enemies in the presence of all people so that they can recognize his power and praise his holy name.
Prayer:
Dear God, I ask you to please subdue all enemies’ attacks that are wage against me. Let my enemies stumble in their evil imaginations. Give them rooms for repentance, but if they refuse, beat them down and completely incapacitate them! As for me, let me continue to fly in beautiful colors that radiate your glory. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
