January 6 – The Rule Of Tithe Is Mandated For Christians

rule

God emphasized the need for Israelites to pay their tithes once they reach the Promised Land. God said,

“When you have finished laying aside all the tithe of your increase in the third year—the year of tithing—and have given it to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, so that they may eat within your gates and be filled, then you shall say before the Lord your God: ‘I have removed the holy tithe from my house, and also have given them to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, according to all Your commandments which You have commanded me; I have not transgressed Your commandments, nor have I forgotten them'” (Deuteronomy 26:12-13).

Lesson:

It is important that every believer understand the principle of tithe payment and comply with it. God requires his children to pay him the ten percent (10%) of their incomes (which is also known as the tithe) to provide resources for gospel evangelization, meet ministers’ needs, and also serve poor people. Believers must understand that Jehovah does not negotiate tithe, but he claims ownership on it – as his own entitlement. God allows us to have a personal claim on the remaining 90% of our incomes. However, despite the large 90% of our incomes that we personally own, some believers still find it difficult to give God his own share; they would prefer to keep complete 100% for their personal use; therefore, God labels them as thieves! (Malachi 3:8-10). However, God, who established the rule of the tithe, will not give his disobedient children a pat on the back. Those who failed in paying their tithes are considered to have failed tests of character, and they will have some consequences to face for their actions. Some consequences may include a delayed blessing or loss of opportunities. However, believers who honor God with their incomes by faithfully paying their tithes will receive more blessings from him. Jehovah will give his faithful believers more reasons to keep their faithful practices!

Prayer:

Dear God, please help me to faithfully observe the principle of paying my tithes to you. Enough of hindering my own blessings due to my unfaithfulness! Please forgive me for my past failures, and let me start paying my dues to you so that I can be adequately blessed. Please let doors of opportunities open towards me from every side, and let me be more blessed so that I can be able to present you my “fat tithes and offerings!” Let the testimony of your goodness ever fill my mouth! For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
