Ruth decided to stay with Naomi (her mother-in-law) after the death of her husband, despite the fact that Naomi was old and she had nothing-good left to offer. Ruth ignored Naomi’s persuasions, and she refused to turn back to her native land. She insisted and said,
“Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me” (Ruth 1:14-17).
Lesson:
Christians are required to demonstrate selfless love towards other people. We are not expected to seek selfish gains before we can offer assistance to people who are in need. God himself knows the best way to reward good services; he will reward his selfless children! Therefore, we must endeavor to open-heartedly serve other people, and do it diligently, so that God can bless us.
Prayer:
Dear God, please grant me the enablement to demonstrate selfless love towards other people. Do not let me seek selfish gains, but help me to care with a liberal heart. I know that you will definitely bless me if I represent you well on earth, so help me to please you. Let me be your true ambassador on earth, and let me qualify to receive your heavenly rewards. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
