August 29 – Why Did Jesus Die and Rise Again?

Daily Bible Life

Jesus Christ resurrected from death to life after the third day he was buried. While some women were depressed and were busy searching for Jesus’ missing body, God’s angel appeared to remind them of the scripture that says, the Savior ought to resurrect from death and live forever! The following explains how the event unfolded, “Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again’” (Luke 24:1-7). Meanwhile, Jesus himself appeared to some of his disciples after the resurrection, and he reminded them that God had ordained it that he must resurrect from death (Luke 24:13-16; Luke 24:25-27; Luke 24:36-42).

Lesson:

Jesus Christ resurrected from death to life, and Satan shall remain ashamed forever. The enemy had made his worse against Jesus but did not prevail. He insinuated Jesus’ death with an expectation that it would silence him forever. However, Satan lost his battle over Jesus. Death could not hold Jesus for long, but he resurrected to live forever! Also, Jesus’ resurrection has earned eternal life for his followers. Anyone who confesses Jesus as Lord and accepts him as his or her Savior will resurrect from first death experience to live eternally with God. Death and hell do not have power over Christians. Christ will resurrect his believers on the last day, and he will give them the key to eternal life. Hallelujah!

Prayer:

Praise God, Jesus resurrected from death! Praise God, Jesus’ resurrection has earned me eternal life! Shame to the devil and glory to God! I am a believer of Jesus Christ, and I am a partaker of his resurrection. Since I am a born again Christian, sin and death do not have power over me anymore. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. Henceforth, I will live happily, and I will proclaim Christ’ gospel to my friends, neighbors, and the world at large. Hallelujah, Christ reigns forevermore! Amen!
