November 20 – The Significance of the Holy Communion

Daily Bible Life

The Lord’s Supper (also known as the Holy Communion) Is a remarkable exercise initiated by Jesus Christ, which all believers are required to honor and practice. Paul described the Holy Communion and said, “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes” (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Lesson:

The Holy Communion is an important part of Christianity that no one must overlook. The Holy Communion symbolizes an establishment of Jesus’ covenant with the saints. The scripture explains that Jesus broke bread and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes” (1 Corinthians 11:24-26).

Therefore, every born-again Christian must partake in the Holy Communion, which is an exercise that signifies the renewal of our covenant with Jesus Christ. The Holy Communion also symbolizes our declaration of faith that we partake in Christ’ pain, death, and resurrection.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus Christ, I believe in your death and resurrection. I also believe in the Holy Communion that you started to register believers’ covenant, and commit to your death and resurrection. Therefore, please help me to remain worthy to participate in the Holy Communion. Please let it result to the renewal of my commitment to serving you throughout the days of my life. Let me remain rapturable, so that I can partake in your Holy Communion in heaven also. For I have made this prayer request through your name “Jesus Christ.” Amen!
