Christians must focus their efforts on activities that glorify God. Our efforts must not focus on receiving human praise, and it must not be for any other selfish reason. Jesus Christ said,
“Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. (Matthew 6:2-4).
God respects true worshipers, but he dishonors people’s pleaser! The Creator expects his children to give him honest services without self-seeking glorification and/or human praises. In addition, God’s children must not engage in false humility to gain the approval of others. We are expected to be pure before God and give him our best services as empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Creator will reciprocate our efforts with blessing so that we can be motivated to serve him more.
Dear God, please help me to offer you my activities with holiness. Help me to offer selfless services to you. Do not let me serve to receive human praises, but let my activities be selfless to glory your Holy Name. Let my services be worthy of your blessing in this life and in heaven also. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
