Jesus Christ warned his disciples to prepare for the persecution that he would suffer from his enemies. The people lack insight and failed to make adequate preparation. Therefore, they were confused when the persecutors arrived. The disciples deserted Jesus! Meanwhile, the people could have acted bravely if they had acted on their Master’s warning to prepare (By being prayerful). Jesus had warned the people, “Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men. “But they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this saying” (Luke 9:44-45).
Christ’s disciples lost the spiritual consciousness to appropriately act on his warning. They had personality conflicts and engaged in competitions! The scripture highlighted the people’s behaviors after Christ had warned them, “Then a dispute arose among them as to which of them would be greatest. And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by Him, and said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives Him who sent me. For he who is least among you all will be great” (Luke 9:46-47).
Christians must be sensitive to the Holy Ghost at all times. Believers ought to understand that we cannot observe Christianity in carnality. We must be spiritually alert and address every situation under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Our spiritual exercise must incorporate prayer and fasting to prevail in our situations.
Christians must be careful not to allow the cares of the world to snatch us from the Lord. The salvation of Jesus Christ that we have received is precious and we must carefully guide it. That is, we must not allow Satan and his forces to dribble us into compromising our faith in Jesus Christ.
Christians need the strength of God through the Holy Spirit to overcome persecutions, trials, and temptations. Indeed, some trying moments will arise to challenge our faith, but we must ensure not to compromise our stand in the Lord!
Christians must not give in to the will of the enemies. We must find motivation in the Bible. We can be encouraged with a Bible verse that states, “In this world you will have tribulations but be of good shares I have overcome the world”
Children of God have the mandate to stand firm in the Lord and refute Satan and his cohorts. Our weapons of warfare are not carnal but they are strong in God to overcome Satan and his forces. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Christians will overcome any challenge with prayer, fasting, and faith exercise. The scripture states, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual *hosts* of wickedness in the heavenly *places”* (*Ephesians 6:12).*
Dear God, please help me to be spiritually sensitive and operate under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to live an overcomer’s life! Help me to spiritually act through prayer, fasting, and faith exercise so that I can enjoy your benefits in every aspect of my life and remain heavenly worthy. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
