July 5 – Christians To Adhere To God’s Law & Doctrines

Daily Bible Life

Jesus Christ rebuked the Pharisees for over-stretching the law of God and, thereby, rendering it irrelevant. The Pharisees forced people to comply with their man-made rules under the pretense that they were protecting God’s sacred law. However, the Pharisees’ rules included loophole-clauses that sabotaged God’s law. Jesus said, “He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— then he need not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition” (Matthew 15:3-6).

Lesson:

All people must honor God and comply with his laws. We are not to mistake God’s law for any man-made law that is fallible. Human laws are imperfect, but God’s law is perfect and without any shortcomings! It is important that we all submit to God and obey his law to receive his blessing (and not his punishment). If you ever find yourself struggling to adhere to God’s laws, then you should pray and allow God to help you. A person who violates God’s law should repent and turn a new leaf, as God demanded. God’s benefits will abide by people who duly obey God and faithfully serve him.

In addition, ministers of God must follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ to teach the fundamental principle of the scriptures. They must ensure not to interpret God’s laws in a manner that will confuse people into committing a sin. Gospel ministers must ensure not to mix church tradition with God’s law. A tradition may aid us in obeying God’s law; however, no tradition can be equated to God’s law! It is important that all people (including the clergy) Evaluate the influences of their tradition, and ensure it does not violate God’s law. Any doctrine that contradicts those of the Bible must be rejected. God will honor people who stand for righteousness and duly obey his laws.

Prayer:

Dear God, please help me to honor you with a lifestyle that embodies righteousness, so that I can prosper! Help me to prioritize the need to obey your words, as I refrain from mixing tradition with your laws. Please help me to consider the scripture as my ultimate guide to meeting your expectations. Please empower me to obey your laws, so that I can prosper every day of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
