Christians are expected to be disciplined and be firm with their religious practices. Believers must not be reckless in faith to believe just any teaching that they have heard. We must be sensitive in the Spirit to differentiate between heretical teachings and the true word of God.
The Bible warned, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this, you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world” (1 John 4:1-3).
Lesson:
Christianity is a firm religion that is consistent with the principles of God. The religion has a sound foundation; therefore anyone who claims to be a Christian must know what he or she stands for. Everyone must understand that Christianity is a religion established to satisfy God’s interest. As believers, we must hold firm to our faith in Jesus Christ without wavering.
No Christian should appreciate any doctrine that lacks bases in the scripture. We must evaluate sermons, teachings, and prophecies with that of the scriptures. We must reject erroneous teachings, and we must faithfully follow the teachings that comply with God’s principles taught in the bible.
Prayer:
Dear God, please save me from becoming a victim of heretical teachings. Do not let me be deceived to believe teachings that are orchestrated by the antichrist. Please help me to hold firm to my faith in your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to diligently study the scripture to establish all truths. Also, help me to apply principles of the bible to my life. Let me prosper in all my ways, and please count me worthy for your eternal kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
