June 12 – Be Careful On How You Pass Judgment

Daily Bible Life

Elihu prejudged his friend Job and accused him of some secret sins, which put him in a lot of trouble. However, Elihu was wrong. Job’s sufferings had nothing to do with sin. He was being tested by God (Job 1:6-12). Elihu had claimed, “What man is like Job, Who drinks scorn like water, Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men? For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight in God” (Job 34:7-9).

Lesson:

As Christians, we must be careful about our accepted perceptions. We must endeavor not to make irrational statements based on what we feel or see. It is advisable to stay quiet and confirm our assumptions before speaking, especially when we aren’t sure about every detail that surrounds a situation! A good child of God must not pass quick judgment on others. Better still, we should obey the word of God that requires us not to judge other people so that we would not be judged! (Matthew 7:1-6).

A good Christian must, also, not segregate others. He must not stereotype people based on their race, gender, culture, or background. More importantly, a good Christian must be sensitive to positively meet the needs of other people. He/she must not be an individual who heaps coals of fire on other people’s injuries. God reserves his blessings for anyone who represents him well on earth with good Christian virtues. The person will be blessed on earth, and also, wine and dine with God in heaven.

Prayer:

Dear God, please make me a Christian who is sensitive to other people’s feelings. Please help me make positive contributions to other peoples’ lives. Please give me the grace and power to be a source of benefits for others in terms of love, joy, and peace. Please let me represent you well so that I can be blessed on earth, and also, qualify for your tremendous blessings in heaven. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
