August 17 – A Person Who Follows God’s Plan Will Always Win

Daily Bible Life

David and his followers lost their family and possessions to some foreign invaders; they bitterly lamented for their losses and were confused. No one knew what to do since they were confused and perplexed, but David knew and did the right thing. He consulted God for directions; he got what he needed! The scripture reported, “So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive. Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” (1 Samuel 30:3-8).

Lesson:

God still talks and he will direct his people who prioritize seeking his directions in any matter. People who call on God will never be ashamed, and their footsteps would be far from a failure.

It is important that people are encouraged to daily seek God and ask for his directions. Whoever does so will prosper. The scripture emphasized that God orders the steps of his people! (Psalm 37:23).

Prayer:

Dear God, please enable me with grace to seek your face over all matters so that I can prosper in any situation that comes my way. Help me to follow your instructions as you lead. Don’t let me allow any situation to overwhelm me to an extent that I won’t call on you for help. Empower me to call on you in all situations so that I can prosper in every day of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.
