Josiah was just eight years old when he became the king of Judah; he outperformed his predecessors who were much older than him. He faithfully served God. King Josiah ordered God’s priests to educate people on how to faithfully serve God. He made serving God a national priority, and thereby was able to draw people’s heart towards God. the Bible reported, “The king sent them to gather all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem to him. The king went up to the house of the Lord with all the men of Judah, and with him all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant which had been found in the house of the Lord. the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant” (2 Kings 23:1-3).

Humans are made to comply with God’s laws, and all people are required to study the scriptures to understand God’s mandates. The Bible, which is the word of God is affordable, and can be possessed by everyone. God has also freely furnished each believer with his Holy Spirit to empower him/her into compliance with his laws. It is therefore important that all people serve God with sincerity of heart. God who knows all things will evaluate each one’s activities; he will adequately reward people based on their services. People who indulge in sin will not be positively rewarded; their portion will be in hell fire. People who faithfully serve God will have their portion with God in heaven, where they will enjoy everlasting blessing of God.

Dear God, please help me to study and comply with your laws. Help me obey your instructions and appropriate the scripture into my life. Please help me to faithfully serve you so that I can receive your positive reward and end up in your eternal kingdom. Please count me worthy for your kingdom O Lord! For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
