God’s priests in Old Testament era offered animal sacrifices to cleanse human sins, but those sacrifices were never perfect since they never permanently remove a sin. The priests who offered the sacrifices were not perfect either. To help solve this problem, God sent his own Son Jesus Christ as the perfect priest to sacrifice his life for human sins. The Son of God would not slaughter any animal for sacrifice, but he would release his life for the purpose! Jesus Christ came to earth, and he surrendered his life as requested by God to save humanity.
The scripture attested, “…Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance” (Hebrews 9:11-15).
Jesus Christ is the Most High Priest of God who has strong capability to complete the redemptive work of human soul. Christ came to earth to die for human sins. He also resurrected from death to award his gift of life to people who follow him. Anyone who confesses Jesus Christ as his (or her) Lord and Savior will receive forgiveness of his sins. Bible stated, “For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another—He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation” (Hebrews 9:24-28).
I appreciate Jesus Christ for his efforts to save humanity from their sins. I thank him for sacrificing his life to save my soul! I believe that Christ died for my sins; he cleansed my sins with his blood. Therefore, I confess him as my personal Lord and Savior. From now on, I dedicate my complete life to serving Jesus Christ, and I promise to be his true follower throughout the days of my life. Thank you Jesus Christ for your saving grace! Forever shall your praises be in my mouth. Amen!
