Jabez, in the Bible, realized his status as someone who has been living a restricted lifestyle; therefore, he decided to take a proactive step in approaching the situation. He prayed to God for help, and he received help. The scripture explained, “Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested” (1 Chronicles 4:9-10).
Children of God ought to consider prayer as a powerful and an effective tool to living a victorious life on earth. Prayer is powerful to destroying all works of Satan, and it earn believers the opportunity to live in victory. Believers should consider prayer as a simple exercise, and actively engage in it. Prayer exercise does not cost money, yet it remains the most effective tool to living a victorious life on earth! Prayer is like a two-edged sword that cuts through anything that it finds on its path. No Christian should consider prayer as a difficult task to perform; we should make it our daily routine, and do it freely. Christians must bring our petitions to God in prayers, without holding back.
All it takes to pray is to open our mouths and have dialogue with God. That is, a Christian who could chat with his/her friend should also be able to talk to God in prayer. Every Christian should call unto God in Prayer of Thanksgiving and Prayer of Petition. That is, “In thanksgiving, we should bring our requests to God” as Bible stated. Jehovah who is ever strong and alive will surely grant the request of his children who cast their complete trust in him. He will help us beyond measure.
Dear God, please give me ability to trust you and bring my petitions to you. Let me be someone who prays to you always! Let me find it convenient to bring my concerns to you. I do not want to hesitate in telling you how I feel, and what I need from you. Please give me power to table my request before you so that I can receive your help and live in victory everyday of my life. Please earn me your victory, and give me all reasons to sing the songs of your praises throughout the world! For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
