Paul and Barnabas decided to separate their ministry activities once they started to see things differently. Despite the differences, the duo played maturity and decided to separate in a way that will not negatively affect their gospel campaign. The scripture recorded the separation moment between Paul and Barnabas, “Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus; but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God. And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches” (Acts 15:39-41).

Christian brethren from different denominations may have conflict of doctrine, but they should not allow the conflict to negatively affect the gospel. Christians of different denomination must venture to serve God together in unity. We must not allow our differences to negatively affect God’s work. That is, our decisions must not affect people’s relationship with God.

Believers are called to serve God together, and we must not allow our church tradition and doctrines to set us apart. Christian community must not allow our varying opinions hurt the gospel that Jesus Christ died for! We must learn from Paul and Barnabas who were co-laborers in God’s vineyard but shared a different opinion. The duo separated in good faith; they did not allow their decision to create a detrimental effect on the gospel! (Acts 15:39-41). Paul and Barnabas prospered for the kingdom of God, as the fruits of their labor still abide till today.

Dear God, please save the Christian community from division. Heal the church of bitterness and rage that our leaders have promoted. Restore your true love to the church, and let the brethren start to relate in true love. Let Christians community give room for the leadership of your Holy Spirit so that we can prosper! Help the church to stay sensitive and prayerful to disallow Satan from gaining ground against your kingdom. Empower your children throughout the world to proclaim your gospel to populate your kingdom. Please keep the body of Christ together in one faith so that we can befit rapture! Please let thy kingdom come O Lord! For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
