Isaiah prophesied about the person of Jesus Christ the Messiah (Yeshua Ha-Mashiach) to be born. Prophet Isaiah said, “…For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:2-5).
Jesus Christ was persecuted to the point of death by his own people. He was beaten, tortured, and killed for some unfounded accusations. Meanwhile, it was Jesus’ will to suffer for sins of mankind. While the Messiah had chance to denounce his mission for a lesser penalty, he refused. He insisted on his purpose and maintained his position as the true Son of God sent to save the world. Christ volunteered himself to suffer and die! However, his death and resurrection became our most valuable asset. The scripture explained this, “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5).
Since Jesus Christ has suffered and died for our sins, we ought not to experience similar predicament anymore. No need to suffer for remission of sin again! Christ has paid for it! Meanwhile, Christ’ effort on the cross will remain unaccomplished over us – until we have willingly surrendered our lives to him. We must confess Jesus Christ as Lord, and we must dedicate our lives for his worship. The Savior reserves eternal rewards for us in heaven if we faithfully follow him. He will honor us for making his crucifixion experience a worthwhile effort.
Dear God, I believe that Jesus Christ is your true Son who has suffered and died for my sins. Therefore, I confess my sins and forsake them. I declare Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal Savior. As from today, I dedicate my life to Jesus Christ, and I will serve him throughout the days of my life. Please give me grace to keep following you, and let me remain worthy to inherit your eternal kingdom. For I have made my requests and declaration of faith through the name of your beloved Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
